💻 “Why is Literacy Critical in AAC”: A Talk by Karen Erickson 💻

Ahead of our Live Q&A session with Karen Erickson next week, we're releasing a link to the talk "Why is Literacy Critical in AAC". This talk was given by Karen Erickson at the International AAC Conference hosted by Communication Matters in 2019, and will provide the basis for our Q&A session next Tuesday 29th April 💻

Karen is a world leader in research and implementation of literacy instruction for those who use AAC, and has a special focus on Rett syndrome! During our live Q&A with Karen, you’ll be able to ask any questions you might have about literacy and AAC, to both Karen and members of our Communication team here at Rett UK 💜

We will be broadcasting a re-watch of this presentation at the start of our live session (from 19:00 - 20:00). However, if you cannot attend or would like to watch in your own time, then this is your chance to do so!

🏃‍♀️ Sending a massive congratulations and thank you to all the runners who took part in the Paris Marathon in aid of Rett UK yesterday 🏃‍♀️

We had four fabulous people bravely participating in the Paris Marathon yesterday, and we’re so thankful for their dedication and fundraising efforts 💜

Amy and Brian Kitson were running in honour of their daughter Emily who is 12 years old and was diagnosed with Rett syndrome when she was 2. Amy and Brian chose to challenge themselves and take part in the Paris Marathon, returning to the country where they got married 🥰 They said: “It is a huge challenge for us to commit to, however, with the challenges our children face every single day, it's the least we can do.”

🥳 Sending a massive congratulations and thank you to Jack Ward who completed an incredible fundraising challenge for Rett UK 🥳

Jack undertook the challenge of running from John O’Groats in Scotland to Lands End in Cornwall, taking 32 days and spanning an impressive 840 miles! And along the journey he managed to raise an incredible £7400 for Rett UK 🤩

Jack decided to take on this challenge in honour of his friend's daughter Poppy, who is four years old and was diagnosed with Rett syndrome 💜
