Rett UK is delighted to be able to offer an in-person opportunity for people with Rett syndrome, their parents/carers and siblings to get together and socialise once again, whilst also having a focus on Communication and Literacy.
This event is open to everyone across the UK.
The main event for families will be on Saturday 8th October, with a range of talks and group activities throughout the day. There will be something for everyone, at all ages and stages of the communication and literacy journey, with plenty of opportunities to try things out and have some interactive fun. Lunch will be provided, and a Care Room for people with Rett syndrome and siblings will be available, should you wish to use it at any time. There will also be plenty of time and space to just ‘chill out’, to meet and talk with other families too.
For families who wish to arrive earlier, and extend their weekend, there is the option for parents/carers to join a communication workshop on Friday afternoon, 7th October. This will be open to communication professionals (e.g. SLTs, teachers) too. Families can also sign up for individual consultations with a member of the Communication and Education Team on Friday afternoon. And there will be an optional “Music, Fun & Chat” activity on Friday night.
Our venue for this event is The Station Hotel in Perth, Scotland. The Station Hotel is an historic building, located in the heart of Perth, just a minute’s walk from town centre, the theatre, concert hall and the River Tay. With fantastic transport links, the hotel has its own car park for over 100 cars and is situated next to both Perth railway and bus stations.
This event is free to attend.
However, families will need to pay their own hotel costs if they wish to stay over. B&B rooms are available at the Station Hotel (Single – £90 Double – £110 Family – £130 per night). Room bookings and payments should be arranged directly with the hotel, quoting Rett UK at the time of booking.
Any families who may need financial support for this can contact Rett UK to discuss available options.
We look forward to seeing you in Scotland in October!
